Cyprus Beaches
Our beach at Mandria in Cyprus is sandy with multi-colored rocks, and is a short walk from home. The first full day we were in Cyprus we walked down to the beach, still a bit out of whack with the time zone adjustment, and got our feet into the sea. Next to the beach is a little beach bar where we met Mari. We ordered drinks but she needed cash payment and all we had was a card. She said to come back and pay her later! Sat and watched the sea a bit before walking back home. Later in our stay we went back in the evening and watched the sunset. We stayed on the western side of the island during this stay so no pictures of sunrise. Next time. We did swim at this beach one day for about an hour or so. We did not go outside the surf, even though the water is shallow, due to somewhat high waves on this day.
On my birthday I booked a cruise from Latchi Harbour (extreme Northern end of the West side of Cyprus) to the Blue Lagoon. Our boat was named "Blue Lagoon". The Lagoon is only accessible via boat or ATV on a very treacherous road. We opted for the boat! The water is crystal clear and a beautiful aqua blue color. Swimming in the sea, deeper than I am tall, was a lot of fun for me, not so much for Bud since he does not swim. It was fun getting in the water and also watching everyone else swimming and diving off the boat. There were sites to see on the way as well. After we went out to eat at a fresh fish place nearby. All in all, a good Bday.
